These works were done in the summer of 2010--plein-aire--that is to say directly on location. Unless otherwise noted, they were all executed using chalk pastels on sanded Wallis paper. Each day after I made them I immediately put them away without revision or edit. I wanted to get out of my head and just make each piece without censor--even my own. They are thus a visual diary of my return to the desert I love so very much.
